How to Play Songo

Choose music, hear a short clip, then identify the song before the round moves on. The shorter the clip, the more points are on the table.

A good Songo search is specific enough to produce familiar songs and broad enough to make every answer choice plausible.

Basic rules

A round in four steps

  1. Search for an artist, album, or genre. Presets such as pop hits, rock classics, and country hits are available for quick starts.
  2. Pick how long the song preview should play. Short clips are harder and worth more.
  3. Listen to the clip and choose one of four song titles before moving to the next round.
  4. Compare scores at the end. Streaks and efficient listening help separate close games.

Scoring

Clip length changes the risk

Clip length Base points Best use
0.2 seconds 1,000 Use when you know an artist's production style.
1 second 600 A balanced choice for most solo and local games.
10 seconds 125 Useful when the song pool is unfamiliar or very broad.

Search tips

Artist and album searches usually create tighter games. Genre searches work well for parties because the answer choices cover more eras and styles.

Local multiplayer

Add players on one device and pass the screen between turns. This mode is fast because nobody needs an account or invite link to start guessing.

Online rooms

Online rooms give the host a private link. Every player answers the same timed round from their own device, then the answer is revealed to the room.
